Lott, John R. More
Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun-control Laws. 2nd ed.
Chicago: Univ. of Chicago, 2000. Print.
John Lott discusses crime and it’s affects in his book “More
Guns, Less Crime”. Lott asks a question nearly identical to my research
question. Does Concealed carry affect the crime right, and if so how? Through
the mass amounts of statistical data on crime he has gathered from cities
across the nation, he proves the question he asked. Lott’s nearly identical
question he proposes helps me out immensely. His proven data backs up my
research question and allows me to refer to him for proof. Not only does his
data help me, but he always brings up the counter arguments and explains why
they are incorrect. Knowing the counter arguments to my topic helps me gain a
better understanding.
"FIREARMS TUTORIAL." EHSL. The University of Utah Eccles Health Sciences
Library. Web. 10 Apr. 2012.
This tutorial talked about gun control issues, public health
and safety. It provided a lot of exact number in reference to public and safety.
It also gave an in-depth analysis of firearms in general. This source was helpful to me because of the
exact number and statistical data it had.
"Inside Straw Purchasing: How Criminals Get Guns
Illegally." Mayorsagainstillegalguns. Web. 10 Apr.
2012.
This study showed how criminals purchased guns illegally. It took
you through the steps of buying a gun from the stand point of a felon. I found
this study to be helpful because it gave me two good pieces of information. One
being a valuable quote within the study. The other being the definition of a
straw purchase.
Kwon, Ik-Whan G., Bradley Scott, Scott R. Safranski, and Muen
Bae. "The Effectiveness of Gun Control Laws." American Journal of Economics and Sociology 56.1 (1997): 41-50. Print.
This journal was extremely in-depth on the effects of gun
control and how affected someone sociologically. They also discussed the
economic affects it had on hospital from gunshot victims. From this journal I learned
about crimes of passion and how gun control could diminish them. It also discussed
why this had an impact on the Brady bill.
"2nd Amendment Bearing Arms - U.S. Constitution -
Findlaw." Findlaw. Web. 10 Apr.
2012. <http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/constitution/amendment02/>.

the 2nd amendment from it.
"Eddie Eagle Safety Program." Nrahq. Web. 10 Apr. 2012.
<http://www.nrahq.org/safety/eddie/>
This website
explained how the children should act with they come into contact with a

helped me prove that he NRA does care about the safety and tries to actively
promote safety.

The news article gave a brief story about a man who had to
use deadly force to save himself; it also discussed why there has been a surge
in the number of CCW permit holders across the nation. From this article I was
able to take the approximate number of CCW holder’s nationwide.
"MSP - Firearms." SOM. Web. 10 Apr. 2012.
This website is the official site of Michigan state police.
On their website they have anything and everything you would ever need to about
Michigan laws. From this website I took information regarding CPL issuance
process and training guidelines for the CCW license.
State of Michigan. Self Defense Act. Michigan. Web. 10 Apr. 2012.
This bill
explained the new Self Defense Act that was put into place in 2006; it is an
extension to the Castle doctrine and thus further protects your rights of self
defense. From this I took the Act and used it to explain what it is.
"States with the Most and Fewest Firearms Murders." FlowingData. Web. 10 Apr. 2012.
This website
used a graph to explain the number of murders from a firearm by state. From the
website I took the graph itself and then used it to prove several key points of
my essay.
